Membership

The Nauvoo Historical Society was chartered in 1953 and is a member of the Illinois Historical Society and Association of Illinois Museums. The Historical Society received grants from the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The Nauvoo Historical Society depends greatly on memberships and donations from area residents and visitors. Membership is open to all people interested in the history of Nauvoo and the mission of the Nauvoo Historical Society.

The mission of the Nauvoo Historical Society is to promote the preservation and awareness of Nauvoo's rich and significant Nauvoo history. We operate two museums, sponsor educational and enrichment programs and distribute a quarterly newsletter. Our latest book, Nauvoo, provides new members a brief overview of the many chapters in Nauvoo's history. For more information, email historian@nauvoohistoricalsociety.org
